Which cars are free from ULEZ charges?

ULEZ compliant petrol cars

Must meet a minimum of Euro 4 (NOx) emission standards.

Generally registered as new with the DVLA after 2005.

ULEZ compliant diesel cars

Must meet a minimum of Euro 6 (NOx and PM) emission standards.

Generally registered as new with the DVLA after September 2015.

ULEZ compliant vans

Petrol vans must meet Euro 4 (NOx) emission standards.

Diesel vans must meet Euro 6 (NOx and PM) emission standards.

ULEZ compliant motorbikes & mopeds

Motorbikes and Mopeds must meet Euro 3 (NOx) emission standards.

Euro 3 engines are those generally registered with the DVLA after July 2007.

Understanding the London ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone)

The ULEZ is a traffic control measure implemented in London to reduce air pollution caused by vehicles.

The ULEZ covers, and expands beyond, the area of the existing Congestion Charge Zone (CCZ) in central London. This includes areas such as the City of London, parts of Westminster, Camden, and Islington.

The ULEZ also operates 24/7, every day of the year, including weekends and holidays, while the CCZ operates between 7 am to 10 pm, Monday to Friday.

Drivers must pay a daily charge of £12.50 to drive within the zone if their vehicle does not meet the required emission standards.
